Job summary

Transitional Services for New York, Inc. (TSINY) seeks an Activities Coordinator for its Adult Residential programs in Queens Village, NY.

The role involves coordinating recreational activities, establishing partnerships to obtain tickets for offsite events, and organizing large-scale community events such as Family and Friends Day. Responsibilities include planning weekend/evening events, coordinating with program directors, managing funds and staffing, and documenting progress notes.

Qualifications

• Valid NYS Driver's License is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Associate's degree with one year of experience in planning recreational and social events for special needs populations.
• High School diploma with three years’ experience in planning events for special needs populations acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Educate and encourage residents to use leisure time constructively.
• Follow change-of-shift checklist and sign as needed.
• Plan special events for weekends or evenings.
• Coordinate events with Program Directors, including funds, vehicles, and staff.
• Meet with supervisor for supervision.
• Escort residents shopping for personal needs.
• Write Medicaid Progress Notes reflecting restorative services.
