Job summary

PruittHealth in Florida seeks an Activities Assistant to plan, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, intellectual and spiritual programs for residents, under the supervision of the Supervisor. The role supports personalized activity interventions and coordinates with the care team to promote residents’ rights and well-being.

The position involves conducting resident assessments, developing individualized plans, scheduling varied activities, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum two years college education with courses in recreation, education, social work, other behavioral sciences or clinical services.
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year full-time employment in a patient/resident activities program in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and evaluates recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs according to residents’ assessments and care plans.
• Conducts assessments and interviews residents and family members to tailor individualized recreation programs.
• Works with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate the care plan and attend care conferences.
• Schedules activities to suit residents’ hours and preferences, posts monthly calendars, and ensures transportation as needed.
• Provides activities to residents in rooms reflecting life-long interests and supports participation through prompts and assistance.
• Delivers structured activities for cognitively impaired residents and adapts activities for inclusive participation.
• Develops and updates Recreation Services policies and procedures.
• Communicates with Nursing Home Administrator about resident care, staffing and budget considerations.
