Job summary

Aztec Healthcare is seeking an energetic Activities Assistant to help implement recreation programs for residents in our long-term care facility. You will support the Activity Director and help create engaging, meaningful activities tailored to individual resident interests.

The role emphasizes enthusiasm, daily resident interaction, and collaboration with staff and volunteers to enhance quality of life for residents. Previous care experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Activities Certification is preferred.
• One year experience in long term care is required.
• One year of experience conducting social/recreational programs in the past five years is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote residents' opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to maintain functioning levels.
• Encourage resident participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, outings, religious activities, educational activities, community service, and recreational activities.
• Assist in completing activity documentation in line with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Submit supplies list to Activity/Recreation Director and receipts for activity expenditures.
• Maintain precautions/limitations list on each resident.
• Assist in organizing and supervising the volunteer program including recruiting and training volunteers.
• Assist with Resident Council Meetings as needed.
• Assist in planning community activities that include community, staff, families and residents.
• Help complete monthly calendar of activities and post it in the center.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
