Job summary

FutureCare Associates, Inc. is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Activities Director in organizing and implementing the facility's activity program. This role helps provide entertainment, socialization, exercise, and opportunities for creative and religious expression for residents.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred
• Strong desire to work with the elderly or disabled
• Ability to handle emotional and behavioral disturbance
• Vivacious and patient in interactions with residents
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings as scheduled
• Previous arts/crafts and/or music experience desirable

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activity programs to improve quality of life through physical, mental, and spiritual well-being
• Make daily announcements for RO, information, weather, residents’ birthdays
• Fulfill sensory needs of bedridden residents and LYFE participants
• Plan monthly activity calendar and suggest future ideas
• Communicate with Activities director about daily problems and resident behavior
• Work with volunteers during activities and supervise them
• Document attendance and participate in care plans and inventory
• Assist with outings outside the facility and community outreach
• Represent the department in the director’s absence
• Attend administrative meetings and collaborate with staff on events
