Job summary

Eastern Healthcare Group is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Activities Director in planning and directing programs that provide entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression for residents. The role involves assisting impaired residents and their families in exploring suitable avocations and leisure pursuits.

Responsibilities include developing calendars, coordinating events, working with volunteers, and maintaining documentation to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.
• Six months to one year experience performing activity related duties.
• Knowledge of the aging process and various resident activities.
• Ability to assume leadership role in the Activity Department in the absence of the Activity Director.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Experience working with volunteers and ability to organize and develop volunteer program.
• Customer service oriented with ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and directing a program of activities to meet residents' social, emotional, physical and therapeutic needs within the specified budget.
• Assist in development and implementation of an activity calendar and in-room activities.
• Coordinate community involvement and outside facility activities when weather permits.
• Maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation per policies and regulatory requirements.
• Train volunteers and maintain documentation of volunteer hours; reward volunteers as appropriate.
• Prepare progress notes for medical staff reflecting residents’ progress or regression.
• Attend in-service education programs to meet facility requirements.
• Maintain all activity-related records required by regulations and Medical Records.
