Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas seeks an Intake Coordinator to complete intakes for new residents and conduct orientation classes. The role includes reviewing referrals for eligibility and assisting in resident services and case management as needed.

The IC acts as a liaison with referral sources and staff and helps maintain productive partnerships, ensuring smooth admission processes and timely documentation in accordance with VOAC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in corrections, human services, criminal justice, social work, or related field.
• 2+ years in community-based services with various populations is required.
• Experience in case management, treatment and services with individuals is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to build relationships with residents, staff and partners.

Responsibilities

• Reviews referrals to determine eligibility and suitability for placement.
• Coordinate, document and maintain records of bed counts and resident terminations.
• Maintain records in accordance with policies, procedures and contractual/regulatory requirements.
• Represent the program with contracting agencies on admission criteria and space availability.
• Develop and maintain outreach with staff, community agencies and resources.
• Perform routine administrative tasks and prepare letters, reports and notices.
• Participate in Program Review Team meetings and required trainings.
• Assist in coverage duties including testing, incident reports, and visitor screening.
