Job summary

Jacobs is hiring a Resident Engineer in New Jersey to lead construction delivery on highway and bridge projects for NJDOT. You will supervise field inspection teams, review contractor documentation, and ensure contract compliance, quality, and safety while guiding client communications and decision-making.

The role requires PEM/ NICET IV credentials, CPM scheduling knowledge, and strong collaboration with contractors and stakeholders to keep projects moving forward on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience leading transportation construction or construction management projects.
• Knowledge of NJDOT construction practices, procedures, and documentation requirements as a Resident Engineer.
• Ability to review technical documentation, prepare project correspondence, and develop recommendations on construction-related issues.
• Experience supervising and coordinating field inspection activities.
• Working knowledge of CPM scheduling principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software tools.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Valid driver's license.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or NICET IV certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead Construction Delivery – Direct construction management and inspection efforts on highway and bridge projects, ensuring adherence to contract requirements, schedules, quality standards, and safety expectations.
• Oversee Field Teams – Mentor and coordinate inspection staff, review documentation, and promote consistency in project administration and reporting.
• Serve as a Client Advisor – Collaborate with NJDOT representatives, contractors, and project stakeholders to address field issues and support informed decision-making.
• Manage Project Documentation – Support estimates, change order evaluations, contractor documentation reviews, and maintenance of accurate project records.
• Drive Project Success – Identify and resolve construction challenges while maintaining focus on project objectives and stakeholder needs.
