Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineering/Office Engineer to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in Holmdel, New Jersey. You’ll support project documentation, inspections, and coordination with agencies on highways and bridges.

The role requires NJDOT Site Manager experience, 2+ years as Assistant Resident Engineer on multi-million dollar projects, NICET III or equivalent certifications, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• NICET III certification or 5 years road/bridge inspection.
• ACI, SAT, and TCP certifications.
• Valid US driver's license.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and written English skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all project records, daily work reports (DWR’s/DC-144’s), and correspondence in accordance with owner’s guidelines.
• Aiding Inspection staff in providing quality reports, backup, and assist with locating plan sheets, details, and Standard Specification sections.
• Track completed work quantities and process monthly progress estimates/payments using AASHTOware (SiteManager), EBO, CapEx, etc.; keep separate quantity spreadsheet if necessary.
• Maintain working drawings, check for plan errors, double payments, and update all plan sets with changes.
• Receive, review, process, and track submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
• Initiate, review, and track change orders, force account packages, and assist in claim resolution.
• Coordinate with state/local agencies, government reps, fire/police, and nearby property owners; maintain meeting minutes.
• Schedule material testing and maintain material acceptance/certification.
• Monitor EEO, DBE, and trainee requirements, plus payroll and insurance compliance.
• Assist in assembling final project documentation, as-builts, and closeout records.
