Job summary

HDR is seeking a Resident Engineer for a part-time, temporary position in California. You will work with a team of construction engineers, Caltrans/Owner inspectors, and office staff to interpret contract requirements and supervise field activities on a highway project.

The role requires a PE license, 10 years of relevant experience, and strong communication. Flexibility for days, nights, and weekends in demanding field conditions is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
• 10 years related experience in construction incl. estimating, bidding, POs/subcontracts, scheduling, field engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the licensing board.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce Contract requirements to ensure compliance.
• Administer the Construction Project contract and coordinate approvals with Caltrans Senior Transportation Engineer.
• Coordinate with Caltrans Inspectors to determine priorities for testing and inspection of work quality.
• Lead construction activities with Prime Contractors as tasks are completed.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to support project success.
