Job summary

Evercare of Jerseyville is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals according to menus and physician-ordered diets, while following safety and sanitation standards.

You will monitor food handling, assist dietary staff, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; overtime may be required.

Experience in institutional cooking preferred; high school diploma or GED required; position offers a supportive team environment and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, understand, and follow recipes and diet orders.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Must be of legal working age and able to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to physician-ordered diets and facility menus.
• Follow established menus and document substitutions.
• Honor resident special requests within diet orders.
• Ensure all food is prepared and served safely and hygienically.
• Follow cleaning schedules as directed by the Food Service Manager.
• Label, date, and store all leftover food.
• Report menu changes, supply needs, or equipment issues.
• Report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
• Assist dietary aides and dishwashers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Attend required in-service training sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned
