Job summary

Lutheran Homes Of South Carolina in Columbia, SC is seeking a Resident Assistant (PRN) to provide direct care and support to residents, helping with ADLs and maintaining dignity and privacy.

You will follow care plans, monitor residents, assist with meals, mobility, and health observations, and ensure a safe, compassionate environment while respecting HIPAA and infection control policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or residential care facility preferred.
• Strong ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate, resident-centered care; excellent communication with residents, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to residents per individual care plans.
• Assist with personal hygiene and other ADLs while promoting independence.
• Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, BP) per policy.
• Assist mobility and transfers using gait belts, wheelchairs, and walkers.
• Deliver compassionate, high-quality care and exceptional service to residents and families.
• Assist with end-of-life and post-mortem care, and transfers as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe rooms and common areas; perform light housekeeping and laundry.
• Monitor for safety hazards; report issues to the appropriate staff.
• Make rounds every two hours and respond promptly to call lights.
• Assist with meals and hydration; check temperatures and ensure proper labeling/storage.
• Follow infection control guidelines and HIPAA regulations; attend trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
