Job summary

Lutheran Homes Of South Carolina Inc. is seeking a Resident Assistant to provide direct care, assist with activities of daily living, and support residents in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

You will document care, monitor vital signs, and assist with mobility, transfers, meals, and hydration in a non-exempt, on-site role. Responsibilities include infection control adherence, privacy compliance (HIPAA), and operating within facility policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a skilled nursing or residential care facility preferred.
• Strong ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate, resident-centered care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to residents according to individual care plans.
• Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, dressing, oral care, and other ADLs.
• Take and record residents' temperature, pulse, respirations, weight, and blood pressure.
• Assist in resident mobility and transfers using gait belts, wheelchairs, and walkers.
• Provide compassionate care and support to residents and families.
• Assist with end-of-life care and post-mortem procedures as appropriate.
• Ensure rooms and common areas are clean, safe, and orderly; report hazards.
• Monitor for safety hazards; maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Observe and report changes in residents' conditions; document care provided.
• Make rounds every two hours and respond to call lights promptly.
• Assist with serving meals, hydration, and ensuring proper temperatures and labeling.
