Qualifications

  • Leadership experience and ability to handle high-stress situations with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA and control systems; ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of Profibus and Profinet; strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point person between the supported facility and Lifetime Services team for automation and personnel topics.
  • Assist with onsite responsibilities: manage incidents, coordinate shift work, approve timecards, respond to requests, and participate in customer meetings.
  • Coordinate work orders and oversee maintenance of automated equipment onsite (conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, carton-opening systems).
  • Provide hands‑on maintenance support and lead troubleshooting efforts requiring in-depth technical knowledge; communicate activities to the customer.
  • Perform root cause analyses and drive issues to resolution; monitor spare parts inventory and support supplier coordination.

The Resident Automation Technician Lead is responsible for supporting the customer on all automation-related topics and supervising the day-to-day operations of a TGW resident technician team stationed at one of TGW’s customer facilities. The Resident Automation Technician Lead acts as a key liaison between the customer and TGW on automation and personnel matters. In addition to customer service and leadership skills, this role requires thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, controls automation, and software support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the point person between the supported facility and assigned Lifetime Services team for automation and personnel-related topics.
  • Assist with onsite responsibilities such as managing incidents, identifying training needs, coordinating shift work, approving timecards, responding to time-off requests, attending customer meetings, and other tasks as directed.
  • Coordinate work orders and oversee maintenance activities pertaining to the automated equipment onsite, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems.
  • Provide hands‑on assistance with such maintenance activities, lead efforts to troubleshoot and resolve issues requiring in-depth technical knowledge, and communicate maintenance activities to the customer as needed.
  • Resolve customer equipment issues as quickly and practically as possible. Perform root cause analyses and drive issues to resolution.
  • Monitor and maintain the site spare parts inventory, and/or work closely with customer to maintain inventory upon request.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize automation efficiency and performance in delivery of contracted KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety guidelines, requirements, procedures, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the broader TGW Lifetime Services team to track, document, and communicate issues and lessons learned.
  • Respond to after‑hours inquiries as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education

Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience

Several years of demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in industrial, warehousing/distribution, or related environments.

Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electromechanical troubleshooting and repair of material‑handling conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems.
  • Previous experience holding formal or informal leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience handling high‑stress scenarios requiring advanced interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings for use in diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of Profibus and Profinet.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting knowledge preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk around industrial and/or warehouse environment for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
  • Visual and auditory abilities to work safely with and around moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts, and electricity that require safety protocols
  • Ability to move and use muscles for extended periods of time without fatigue.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Ability to communicate regularly with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
