Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Martinsburg, WV seeks a compassionate Resident Assistant/PCA to support residents with daily living activities and maintain a safe, friendly environment.

You will assist with ADLs, respond to calls, help plan activities, and work closely with the nursing team. A high school diploma or GED and PCA training are required; CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it within 60 days is needed; weekends and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor.
• Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
• Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge.
• Must CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
• Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
• Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues to appropriate individuals (ex: HCD, RN/LPN, or ED).
• Assists residents with activities of daily living.
• Perform housekeeping duties such as making beds, cleaning resident apartments and common areas.
• Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
• Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming information, appointments, admissions and transfers.
• Assist new residents with move-in transition and provide emotional support.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
• Assist residents to and from dining room and activities and check attendance at meals and events.
• Other duties as assigned.
