Job summary

The Village of Ackley, part of Western Home Communities, is seeking a dedicated Resident Assistant/Medication Manager to provide compassionate care for our residents. This role supports daily living activities, medication duties after certification, and collaborates with a skilled nursing team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide resident care under nurse supervision and team support.
• Assist with daily activities and personal hygiene.
• Help with organization, cleaning, laundry, meals, and tasks.
• Respond to resident calls promptly with compassionate care.
• Record resident interactions and communicate with the care team.
• Upon certification, perform medication duties per plan and procedures.
• Ensure residents' rights are respected.

What you’ll do as a Resident Assistant/ Medication Manager:

• Provide care to residents under the supervision of the nurse and the support of your team
• Provide physical support for residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, - using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
• Assists with organizing, cleaning, laundry, meals, and other assigned tasks
• Promptly answer residents’ calls for assistance and provide compassionate care that is in alignment with their specific care plan
• Chart resident interactions throughout the shift and communicate efficiently with the members of your team
• (Upon receiving your Medication Manager certificate) Medication Duties include, but are not limited to, the preparation and administration of medications, tests, and medical treatments
• Ensures that resident’s rights are adhered to

What you’ll need as a Resident Assistant/ Medication Manager):

• Must be 18 years of age to obtain a Medication Manager
• Must be willing to obtain Medication Manager (We will enroll you upon hire if you haven’t already taken the course)
• (Not required) Current active license to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Iowa.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public.
• Strong commitment to serving others
• Prior direct care experience is preferred, but not required.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, as required
