Job summary

Presbyterian Living's Westminster Place in Evanston, IL is seeking a Part-Time Resident Assistant for the 11pm–7am shift, every other weekend. The role provides direct and indirect care under nurse supervision to residents, supporting daily living and wellbeing in a compassionate, mission-driven environment.

The ideal candidate holds an Illinois CNA certification, strong communication, and a genuine interest in geriatric care.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification with Illinois Department of Public Health.
• Able to read, write, speak English and comprehend medical terminology.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic.
• Interest in working with older adults; geriatric resident care knowledge.
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out nursing care within scope of education and as assigned by the charge nurse.
• Adhere to Presbyterian Homes policies and standards of care.
• Communicate effectively with residents, staff and visitors.
• Establish rapport with residents and meet social/recreational needs.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.

$17.55- $21.00 Hourly Rate (Based on years of experience) plus shift and weekend differentials.

Position Overview

The main function of this position is to provide direct and indirect care under supervision of the nurse to a selected group of residents. This role can be in skilled care department or assisted living department.The minimum education, experience and qualifications for this position are: current certification as a nursing assistant with the Illinois Department of Public Health; able to speak, read, write and comprehend English skills needed to use medical terminology on the job; ability to do simple arithmetic; good communication skills; interest in working with older adults; and general knowledge of the needs of geriatric residents

Key Responsibilities

• Carries out nursing care with the scope of education/training and ability as assigned by charge nurse.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of Presbyterian Homes standards of care of the nursing department.
• Communicates properly with co-workers, supervisors, other employees and visitors. Interacts with residents to meet their social and recreational needs.
• Uses good interpersonal skills in establishing a relationship with the residents.
• Assists residents with activities of daily living as needed.
• Preforms other related duties as assigned by Charge Nurse.

• CPR certified, Accredited by American Heart Association.
• Reading, writing, and comprehension skilled needed to use medical terminology on the job.
• Ability to do simple arithmetic.
• Long-term care experience preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of the needs of general patients.
