Job summary

CCHI is seeking a Resident Advisor to provide daily check-ins, build relationships, and foster a welcoming community at CCHI Commons in Highland Park, IL. The RA serves as overnight contact and emergency responder when needed.

A furnished one-bedroom apartment is provided year-round, along with a stipend. The ideal candidate communicates well, works independently, and respects privacy while supporting residents’ independence. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential or community settings with adults with disabilities preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
• Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.
• Calm and capable of exercising good judgment during emergencies.
• Respect for privacy, dignity and independence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily check-ins with residents and provide support as needed.
• Serve as overnight contact for emergencies and follow procedures.
• Build positive relationships with residents while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Encourage resident connection and participation in activities.
• Welcome new residents and foster an inclusive community.
• Report safety or well-being concerns to CCHI staff.
• Assist residents with maintenance/building concerns.
• Attend resident meetings, community activities, and drills as needed.
• Communicate with The Commons Community Manager about concerns and needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect residents' privacy.
