Job summary

Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Director of Activities in planning, organizing, developing, and directing quality activities for patients, ensuring their recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs are met in accordance with Life Care standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.
• Valid driver’s license in current state with satisfactory driving record per Life Care standards.
• Demonstrated proficiency in arts/crafts/music is preferred.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs (includes entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education).
• Chart patient progress and behavior descriptively and accurately.
• Escort patients to and from activities.
• Make regular in-room visits to patients uninterested or unable to participate in group activities.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
• Assist in the evacuation of patients.
• Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
• Communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
• Perform various physical tasks as needed (stand, walk, lift, etc.).
• Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
