Job summary

Life Care Centers of America is seeking an Activities Specialist to plan, organize, and develop quality activity programs for patients across recreation, therapy, and community engagement. You will chart progress, escort patients to activities, and conduct in-room visits to those not participating.

The role requires licensure or registration where applicable, state-approved training, and preference for geriatrics experience.

Qualifications

• Qualified activities professional licensed/registered by the state.
• Eligible for certification as an activities professional after Oct 1, 1990.
• Two years in a social or recreational program, with 1+ year full-time in therapy.
• State-approved training course completion.
• Prior experience with geriatrics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and develop quality activity programs (entertainment, exercise, relaxation, education).
• Describe patient progress and behavior in charting.
• Escort patients to/from activities; may include driving patients.
• Regular in-room visits to patients uninterested or unable to participate.
• Provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients.
• Assist in evacuation of patients.
• Demonstrate dependable attendance and professionalism.
• Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team; follow policies/procedures.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English; lift 35 lbs and related tasks.
