Job summary

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) seeks a Resettlement Caseworker to support refugee resettlement in the Waterloo service area. You will provide comprehensive case management and employment services to newcomers, coordinating with volunteers and local partners to meet timelines and client needs.

Required: Bachelor's degree in health and human services or equivalent experience; 1 year of related health and human services work, with broader eligibility options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health and human services or related field is required.
• Equivalent education plus experience considered (Associates +3 years or HS diploma +5 years).
• Experience in human services, family services, mental health, public health, or employment/workforce development is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered case management and employment services to refugees and newcomers.
• Assist with housing, employment, school enrollment, healthcare, transportation, and other needs.
• Develop individualized plans and conduct assessments for client self-sufficiency.
• Coordinate with volunteers, partners, employers, and service providers.
• Support Matching Grant participants through employment-focused case management and job placement.
• Assist with job readiness, budgeting, and financial literacy.
• Maintain accurate case records and program documentation per guidelines.
• Ensure services align with program guidelines and timelines.

Education

Bachelor's degree in health and human services

Associates degree + 3 years

High school diploma / GED + 5 years
