Job summary

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is seeking a Community Resource Navigator to support its refugee youth school readiness program focused on financial wellness in Polk County. The role uses bilingual skills to connect clients with education and community resources.

You will work with clients to overcome language and cultural barriers, assist with workshops, and coordinate with partners to advance self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and 6 months related experience.
• Must be bilingual in English and another language.
• Lived experience may be considered qualifying.

This position will support our refugee youth school readiness program focused on financial wellness. Applicant must speak English and one or more languages of the refugee community primarily in Polk County. Possibility of some travel to other in-state offices such as Sioux City and Waterloo.

What You'll Do

The Community Resource Navigator will provide direct support services to LSI clients. The Navigator will assist clients in overcoming language and cultural differences and reducing barriers to work towards community integration and self sufficiency. The Community Resource Navigator will use bilingual or multilingual skills to facilitate support clients in educational activities and workshops in order to maximize clients' understanding and utilization of LSI services and community resources. Communicate information to clients from educational classes, appointments, and paperwork. Work with community partners, volunteers, and other LSI staff to ensure high quality services to clients in a plan of action that supports client goals.

What You'll Need

High school diploma/GED and 6 months related experience. Qualified candidates will have the ability to communicate successfully in English and at least one other language to meet the needs of populations served. Lived experience may be considered qualifying.
