Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering with graduation within the last 3 years.
• Proven experience in reservoir simulation.
• Proficiency in computational and data science methods for solving reservoir simulation and fluid mechanics problems.
• Experience with partial differential equations (PDE).
• Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams with strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
• Preferred: Experience with ML or AI.
• Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages.
• Experience with INTERSECT / Petrel RE.
• Familiarity with uncertainty quantification, history matching, reduced-order modeling, or surrogate modeling.

Responsibilities

• Apply reservoir engineering, computational, and data science skills to advance reservoir performance.
• Develop innovations to be used across upstream and low-carbon businesses to support strategic goals.
• This role is based at the ExxonMobil campus in Spring, Texas.
• Collaborate with business units, SMEs, and stakeholders to identify unmet needs in reservoir simulation capabilities.
• Work with team members to develop and mature solutions addressing these needs.
• Support the commercialization of solutions through IT and other channels.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in reservoir simulation technology advising staff.
• Engage with external entities such as university consortia and professional conferences.
