Job summary

The Reservoir Engineer - Advanced role at ExxonMobil is based at the Spring, Texas campus. You will apply advanced reservoir engineering, computational methods, and data science to support asset development and operations across new and mature fields.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across teams, and help deploy innovative workflows and technologies to improve reservoir performance and value, including uncertainty quantification and history matching strategies.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering (≤3 years from graduation).
• Proficiency in computational and data science methods for reservoir simulation.
• Experience with numerical PDE-based methods for reservoir problems.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities.
• Preferred: ML/AI experience and Python or prototyping languages.
• Preferred: INTERSECT or Petrel RE experience.
• Familiarity with uncertainty quantification and history matching.

Responsibilities

• Apply reservoir engineering, computational and data science skills to predict reservoir performance.
• Develop innovations across upstream and low-carbon businesses to support strategic goals.
• Collaborate with teams to identify unmet needs in reservoir simulation capabilities.
• Support commercialization of solutions through IT and other channels.
• Act as SME in reservoir simulation and advise staff across business units.
• Engage with universities and professional conferences.
