Job summary

National EMR seeks reservists to join an elite, on-call cadre ready to deploy within 24–48 hours for hurricane responses, mass shootings, wildfires, and other emergencies. This is not a full-time position. Reservists are deployed based on skills and agency needs, paid for actual hours worked.

Candidates must meet CRT requirements, have an RN/MD support network, and be able to travel. The role emphasizes readiness, safety, and rapid response across ESF mission areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current CRT certificate is required.
• Three years of experience as a respiratory therapist.
• Pediatric and adult respiratory therapy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to National EMR policies, procedures, and manuals.
• Foster safe teamwork and report safety concerns to chain of command.
• Maintain active status in agency platforms and complete required trainings.
• Administer respiratory tests and treatments to clients.
• Clean and sterilize respiratory therapy equipment and perform maintenance.
• Collaborate with medical staff as needed (Physician, APP, RN, LVN, or Pharmacy).
• Assist in updating respiratory protocols and procedures with Medical Services Division.
• Communicate with RN Manager/Clinic Director on policy and procedure issues.
• Assess patient goals and provide quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests and determining treatment plans.
• Administer inhalants and operate ventilators and related equipment.
• Provide bronchopulmonary drainage and assist with breathing exercises.
