Job summary

National EMR seeks experienced respiratory therapists to join a reservist all-hazards response cadre. Reservists deploy within 24-48 hours and are paid based on hours worked and classification.

Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays is required, with course work to be completed within 3 months of hire. Required: high school diploma, accredited RT program completion, CRT certificate, and 3 years of RT experience; RRT preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from accredited Respiratory Therapist Program required.
• Current CRT certificate required.
• RRT preferred.
• Three years of experience as a respiratory therapist required.
• Pediatric and adult RT experience preferred.
• ICS 100b, 200b, 700a, 800b completion; 300/400 required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to agency policies and procedures.
• Promote safety and report hazards to command.
• Maintain active status on agency platforms; complete trainings.
• Administer respiratory tests and treatments.
• Clean and maintain RT equipment.
• Collaborate with medical staff as needed.
• Contribute to protocol reviews with Medical Services.
• Consult with RN Manager on respiratory services.
• Conduct pulmonary function tests and determine treatment plans.
• Provide life-support therapies and ventilatory support.
• Monitor patient responses and adjust therapy as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

National EMR is seeking experienced respiratory therapists to serve as reservist employees in an all‑hazards response cadre. Reservists are called upon on an as‑needed basis and must be available to deploy within 24‑48 hours for incidents such as hurricanes, mass shootings, wildfires, and other emergency events.

Summary

This is not a full‑time position. Reservists will be deployed to fulfill roles based on their skills and experience, with pay based on hours worked and classification. They must maintain active, eligible status and remain prepared for fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Certification

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program (required)
• Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certificate (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred

Required Experience

• Three (3) years as a respiratory therapist (required)
• Pediatric and adult respiratory therapy experience (preferred)

Required Courses

• ICS 100b – Introduction to Incident Command Systems
• ICS 200b – ICU for single resources and Initial Action Incidents
• ICS 700a – National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) and Introduction
• ICS 800b – National Response Framework, An Introduction
• ICS 300 – Intermediate CSC for Expanding Incidents (must complete upon hire)
• ICS 400 – Advanced CSC Command and General Staff – Complex Incidents (must complete upon hire)

Course completion must occur within 3 months of hire; non‑compliance may result in termination.

Responsibilities

1. Adhere to National EMR Policies and Procedures Manual, Uniform Handbook, and Operations Manual.
2. Promote a safety culture, identify hazards, and report concerns to the chain of command.
3. Maintain active status on agency platforms, including learning management systems, and complete assigned training.
4. Administer respiratory tests and treatments to clients.
5. Clean, sterilize, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment.
6. Communicate and collaborate with medical staff (physician, APP, RN, LVN, pharmacy) as needed.
7. Assist in process improvement by reviewing, writing, and updating respiratory protocols with the Medical Services Division.
8. Consult with the RN Manager/Clinic Director on quality of respiratory services.
9. Conduct pulmonary function tests, assess results, and determine treatment plans in consultation with physicians.
10. Provide life‑support therapies, including ventilators and aerosol generators.
11. Perform bronchopulmonary drainage, breathing exercises, and monitor physiological responses.
12. Evaluate therapy effects, observe progress, and recommend adjustments.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical & Medical Requirements

• Current physical‑medical release and proof of immunizations (influenza, MMR, varicella, HepB, HepA, tetanus, PPD/IGRA/Chest X‑ray; meningococcal preferred).
• Successful drug screening/background check.
