UPCI Basic Research Administration
The McCloskey lab in the Department of Computational and Systems Biology at the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a Research Technician to assist in projects focused on breast and ovarian cancer prevention. The research technician is expected to work under the direction of the Principal Investigator to conduct, analyze, and present data from experiments that fall within the scope of the lab’s mission to realize personalized prevention.
Performs a variety of established cell culture protocols, flow cytometry, and develops new experimental assays and capacities. Analyzes, complies, and presents data. Assists with curating sample repositories and manages laboratory supplies and equipment.
Essential Functions
Sterile culture and passage of cells, while optimizing workflows
Processing of human breast tissues for research purposes
Mix of experimental techniques including at minimum: immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, western blots, genomic engineering
Maintains lab buffers and equipment
Keeps detailed laboratory notebook
Written and verbal communication with vendors and the Principal Investigator
Compliance with Biosafety protocols
Physical Effort
Little physical effort is required. Occasionally lifting packages ~lbs.
