Our major focus is on the stem cell compartment, studying how the intestinal stem cells maintain their identity, undergo fate decisions, regulate cell cycle, and the dynamic plasticity that occurs within crypt populations following injury. We use a mix of animal and human models, including cutting-edge genetically modified primary human intestinal stem cell cultures, to advance our understanding of the mammalian intestine.
