Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Research Program Manager – Medical Record Abstract in the Pediatrics department. The role oversees a team performing medical record review and data abstraction for OTIS Pregnancy Studies, ensuring data quality and protocol adherence across multiple sites.

The incumbent will hire, train, and supervise staff, prepare reports, and implement process improvements while coordinating with cross-functional teams and external collaborators to advance clinical research

Qualifications

• Nine years of related experience or a Bachelor's degree with five years of related experience.
• Broad knowledge of clinical or laboratory research and clinical research philosophy.
• Proven project management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience managing people with diverse educational backgrounds and mentoring others.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software; experience with clinical information systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of Research Data Specialists for the OTIS MotherToBaby Pregnancy Studies.
• Oversee medical record abstraction, data validation, and maternal interviews.
• Ensure SOP compliance, data entry protocols, and quality control of data.
• Prepare team reports and update study manuals.
• Develop workload projections and implement new technologies to improve efficiency.
• Coordinate activities with study staff and external collaborators as needed.
