Job summary

Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading life sciences organization to identify a Research Associate II for an opportunity in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on hands-on laboratory experimentation to support assay development and project activities.

Responsibilities include tissue sample preparation, automated staining, data analysis, and collaboration with pathologists. A bachelor’s in life sciences and 2–4 years of lab experience are required; the contract is 2 years.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences required.
  • 2–4 years of post-college lab experience preferred.
  • Hands-on wet-lab experience with pipetting and basic techniques.
  • Experience handling biological samples and chemicals with safety procedures.
  • Experience with automation/instrumentation in the lab.
  • Ability to follow established protocols and work with tissue samples.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and problem solving.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google Docs/Sheets/Slides.

Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading life sciences organization to identify a Research Associate II for an opportunity in Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on laboratory experimentation to support assay development, research, and project activities.
  • Receive and prepare tissue samples on glass slides and perform sample preparation and staining using automated instrumentation.
  • Execute established study designs and experimental protocols with appropriate attention to detail.
  • Obtain, compile, analyze, and document experimental results.
  • Coordinate with pathologists to evaluate and interpret study results.
  • Support new studies and development activities on a new platform, demonstrating adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.
  • Maintain complete and accurate laboratory documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory issues and support corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute technical input to project planning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences.
  • 2–4 years of relevant post-college laboratory experience.
  • Strong hands-on wet-lab experience, including pipetting and basic laboratory techniques.
  • Experience handling biological samples and chemicals while following laboratory safety procedures.
  • Experience with laboratory automation and instrumentation.
  • Ability to execute established protocols and work effectively with tissue samples.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to search and interpret scientific literature.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • GLP/GMP experience is not required; candidates with academic laboratory experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks, particularly Signals.
  • Experience with Smartsheet.
  • Familiarity with SAFe/Agile methodologies, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • ADO experience is a plus.
  • Location model: 100% onsite – Tucson, AZ
  • Schedule: Standard business hours
  • Position Type: 2-year contract
  • Experience requirement: 2–4 years of post-college experience; candidates with 5+ years may be overqualified
  • Fresh Master’s and PhD candidates are considered overqualified for this RA II position
