Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Research Assistant to join our Post Life team in Greenfield, IN. You will perform necropsy or histology tasks on laboratory animals and monitor animal welfare in compliance with regulatory guidelines, while supporting QA and documentation.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences or related fields or an associate’s in veterinary technology. Pay rate is $22/hr with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in animal science/biology/chemistry/microbiology/biochemistry or an associate’s in veterinary technology.
  • 6 months or more of experience with small and large animal dissections.
  • 6 months or more of experience in animal handling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic necropsy or histology tasks on laboratory animals per SOPs, GLPs, and guidelines.
  • Monitor animal health and welfare and support AAALAC compliance.
  • Perform tissue freezing techniques and tissue measurements.
  • Perform histological trimming, bagging, and embedding.
  • Learn euthanasia methods on multiple species per USDA regs.
  • Participate in quality controls and correct errors (documentation).
  • Monitor resources such as equipment, rooms, and study supplies.
  • Adapt techniques to new procedures as directed.
  • Learn to interpret a study protocol.
  • Report animal care concerns and participate in corrective action.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Research Assistant -Study Technician Post Life Labcorp

Labcorp is seeking a Research Assistant to join our Post Life team in Greenfield, IN!

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic necropsy or histology tasks on a variety of laboratory animals in compliance with the appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory guidelines
  • Monitor animal health and welfare in compliance with the Animal Health and Welfare Act and help maintain facilities for AAALAC compliance
  • Performing multiple tissue freezing techniques and measuring of tissues
  • Performing histological trimming, bagging of tissues, and embedding
  • Learns to perform various methods of euthanasia on multiple species according to USDA regulations (if applicable)
  • Participates in quality controls and assures correction of errors (incl. documentation)
  • Participate in monitoring and tracking resources (e.g., equipment, rooms, study supplies)
  • Adapts techniques to new procedures or particular needs as directed
  • Learn how to interpret a study protocol
  • Reports all animal care concerns and becomes involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment
  • Maintains client confidentiality at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in animal science, biology, chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry OR associate’s degree in veterinary technician
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 months or more of experience with small and large animal dissections
  • 6 months or more of experience in animal handling
Additional Job Standards
  • Comfortable working in Animal Research Facility
  • Comfortable with performing small and large animal necropsy -training provided

Pay Rate: $22/hr.

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
