Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Research Study Technician - Pathology (Post Life) to perform necropsy, histology and tissue handling in a pre-clinical setting.

The role supports the Post Life Services team, with a focus on data collection, macroscopic observations, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Training will be provided; start window may align with May–October 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry OR Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology/ Veterinary Nursing.
• 6 months or more of experience with small and large animal dissections.
• 6 months or more of experience in animal handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic necropsy or histology tasks on laboratory animals in compliance with SOPs, GLPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Monitor animal health and welfare in compliance with applicable acts and AAALAC standards.
• Perform tissue freezing techniques and measure tissue samples.
• Prepare histological trimming, bagging of tissues and embedding.

Schedule

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm EST Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Job Responsibilities

• Perform basic necropsy or histology tasks on a variety of laboratory animals in compliance with the appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory guidelines
• Monitor animal health and welfare in compliance with the Animal Health and Welfare Act and help maintain facilities for AAALAC compliance
• Performing multiple tissue freezing techniques and measuring of tissues
• Performing histological trimming, bagging of tissues, and embedding
• Learns to perform various methods of euthanasia on multiple species according to USDA regulations (if applicable)
• Participates in quality controls and assures correction of errors (incl. documentation)
• Participate in monitoring and tracking resources (e.g., equipment, rooms, study supplies)
• Adapts techniques to new procedures or particular needs as directed
• Learn how to interpret a study protocol
• Reports all animal care concerns and becomes involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment
• Maintains client confidentiality at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry OR Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology/ Veterinary Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 months or more of experience with small and large animal dissections
• 6 months or more of experience in animal handling

Additional Job Standards

• Comfortable working in Animal Research Facility
• Comfortable with performing small and large animal necropsy -training provided

About the Team

Post Life Services (Pathology) In this pre-clinical lab-based role you’ll collect, document, and enter data that includes, macroscopic observations at necropsy, tissue collection and histology procedures.

Pay: $22/hr. After initial training period (based on performance) $0.50 increase. This is a future hire position with an future start date. The ideal candidate would be available to start in May 2027 through October 2027. Candidates who have recently completed a degree or will complete a degree within the next academic year may find this opportunity aligns well with their career goals.
