Job summary

Labcorp, in Greenfield, Indiana, is seeking a Research Study Technician to join our Animal Operations team. You will conduct animal research studies that assess the safety, efficacy and toxicity of drugs in early development, while upholding AAALAC standards and high welfare.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science or related field (or experienced alternative) and involves animal husbandry, dosing, sample collection and basic physiological measurements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology/ Nursing OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences with 1-2 years of hands-on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation

Responsibilities

• Conduct animal research studies evaluating safety, efficacy and toxicity of drugs in early development phase.
• May provide husbandry duties to small and large animals
• Perform dosing techniques with small and large animals
• May perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals
• Collect biological samples
• Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
• Maintain AAALAC standards in animal care and welfare
• Perform medical imaging
• Monitor for behavior changes
• Report concerns to supervisor

Labcorp is seeking a recent or upcoming grad for a Research Study Technician position to join our Animal Operations team in Greenfield, Indiana!!

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:45pm EST (Once fully trained will require working every 3rd weekend (both Saturday and Sunday)).

Job Responsibilities

In this position you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances.

• May provide husbandry duties to small and large animals
• Perform various dosing techniques with small and large animals
• May perform bleeding techniques with small and large animals
• Collect biological samples
• Perform basic measurements such as body weight, food consumption, body temperature, blood pressure, etc.
• Maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC)
• Perform medical imaging
• Monitor for behavior changes
• Report on any animals concerns to supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology/ Nursing OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences field AND 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior animal research experience
• Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
• Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings
• Good time management skills
• AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!

Additional Job Standards

• Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment
• Ability to assess and differentiate between normal and abnormal species-specific behavior for a variety of laboratory animal species
• Ability to effectively describe and communicate animal behavior observations using in accordance with established professional behavior terminology
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Your work will contribute to improving the lives and wellness of both people and animals around the world. In this position you will be conducting Animal Research studies that will be looking at the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances. You’ll be maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare in accordance with Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).

Pay Rate

$22/hr. After initial training period (based on performance) $.50 increase.

This is a future hire position with an future start date. The ideal candidate would be available to start in May 2027 through October 2027. Candidates who have recently completed a degree or will complete a degree within the next academic year may find this opportunity aligns well with their career goals.
