Job summary

Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska is seeking a Rental Clerk to assist guests with selecting proper ski and snowboard gear and to manage rental transactions. You will greet guests, measure boot and board fit, and handle agreements with accuracy.

The role emphasizes cash handling, POS operation, and customer service in a fast-paced mountain resort. Flexible schedules include weekends and holidays; housing options and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or 1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training.
• Previous sales experience is a plus, as is handling cash and operating a cash register.
• Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions, as well as present information effectively to customers, clients, and fellow employees.
• Proficiency in basic math, from addition and subtraction to calculating discounts, interest, proportions, and more.
• Capable of defining problems, collecting data, and drawing valid conclusions.
• Comfortable interpreting technical instructions in both mathematical and diagram form, dealing with abstract and concrete variables.
• A working knowledge of ski and/or snowboard equipment and accessories.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities, as well as effective interpersonal skills.
• Stellar customer service skills with the ability to assist guests of all ages, backgrounds, & abilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Present rental agreements, address guest questions, and ensure the completion of all necessary documents.
• Handle returned equipment with care, checking for any damage or issues.

• Operate our point-of-sale system, make change, and reconcile at the end of your shift.

What You'll Do

• Operate our point-of-sale system, make change, and reconcile at the end of your shift.

What to Expect

Be on alert and at times, on your feet for long periods, including nights, weekends, & holidays. Work in a fast-paced, high-energy resort environment. Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort and special events. Physical demands: Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time. Work Environment: The noise in this work environment is usually moderate. Physical terrain in the work environment can be uneven with poor traction; there is ice and snow outside, and wet floors indoors. This role occasionally involves extended hours, nights, and weekends to accommodate peak business periods. Operating within a dynamic, fast-paced guest-centric setting, you will maintain a high level of interaction with staff, guests, and stakeholders.
