Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking students for a Reliability Engineering - Renewables internship, providing hands-on work on a 7.5GW renewable fleet and opportunities to present to senior leadership.

The paid program runs this summer with a May 24, 2027 start; you must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program, able to work full-time during summer and commute to a designated site under our hybrid policy.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher
• Enrolled in ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/part-time during the school year (10 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy

Responsibilities

• Fleet reliability analytics using Bazefield and Aveva PI—software platforms
• SCADA support
• New plant setup support
• Performing component failure rate calculations
• Evaluating new technologies
• Substation component spare parts and risk tracking
• Occasional on-site field inspections

Education

ABET-accredited engineering program

Completed 2 years of undergraduate engineering coursework

Pursuing Electrical Engineering

Junior Design coursework completed
