Job summary

Xcel Energy is looking for an entry-level engineering project management role focused on renewable generation assets across Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• Enrolled in ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Able to travel to renewable facilities at least 25% of the time.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week).
• Able to commute to the designated work location in-person per the hybrid work policy.
• Course work in engineering statics, engineering mechanics, soil mechanics, hydraulics and hydrology, and structural analysis and design.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Support the reliable and efficient operations of Xcel Energy’s renewable generation assets.
• Work as an entry level engineering project management.
• Work with Hydro, Wind and Solar Operations and Energy Supply Projects departments.
• Conduct construction observations.
• Review plans and specifications and evaluate risk.
• Write and review technical reports.
• Review design features of renewable energy facilities.
• Gain practical field experience and mentoring.
• Support renewable facilities located throughout WI, MN, ND and SD.
