Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Site Design Intern to support civil engineering teams on utility-scale wind, solar, and BESS sites. You will work on site layout, grading, drainage, and access road design, applying coursework to real renewable energy projects.

As an intern, you will learn industry standards, assist with grading plans and construction documents, and collaborate with senior engineers while gaining field and design experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication with clients and team members.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and work outdoors when needed.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of grading, drainage, erosion and sediment control, and access road plans.
• Support earthwork and stormwater calculations under supervision.
• Help prepare construction documents, including plan sheets and quantity takeoffs.
• Coordinate with internal and external team members to ensure progress.
• Travel to project sites to gather field data and interface with clients and contractors.
