Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, a leader in renewable energy design, is seeking an Electrical Intern to join our electrical design team. You will assist with collection systems, interconnection facilities, and balance-of-plant infrastructure for wind, solar, and BESS projects, supporting one-line diagrams and equipment specifications.

You will learn industry standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC) and work under licensed Senior Engineers to gain hands-on experience for real-world infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Electrical Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, management, and design team members.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and perform work in outdoor field conditions on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers to obtain training and build foundational proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, SKM/ETAP, and other design software used by Electrical Engineers.
• Assist in the preparation of electrical one-line diagrams, collection system layouts, and grounding plans for solar, wind, and BESS projects.
• Support the development of equipment specifications, bills of materials, and construction documents for interconnection and balance-of-plant facilities.
• Help perform basic load flow, short circuit, and cable sizing calculations under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Actively coordinate with internal and external team members across renewable energy projects to ensure effective communication and project progress.
• Apply applicable engineering standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC, and others) under the guidance of licensed Senior Engineers.
