Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions is seeking an Underwriting Specialist for Renewable Energy to join our growing team. The role focuses on underwriting complex accounts in wind, solar, battery storage, and emerging tech, with broad authority for decision-making and a drive to grow the book of business.

The position offers hybrid or remote work across the United States, with opportunities to collaborate across departments and leverage market knowledge to optimize profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5–10 years of progressively advancing Renewable Energy or related underwriting experience.
• Proven ability to evaluate technical and complex risks across wind, solar, battery storage, and emerging clean energy technologies.
• Established network of strong relationships with brokers, clients, and industry stakeholders, with a track record of generating new business opportunities.
• Client-focused and solutions-oriented approach to account management, leveraging exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
• Team oriented and collaborative with claims and risk engineering functions.

Responsibilities

• Maximizes opportunities for profitable new and renewal business based on market conditions.
• Analyzes underwriting submission information to assess risk quality and appetite.
• Underwrites a book of business and ensures adherence to guidelines and authorities.
• Develops strong relationships with producers and supplies appropriate products and services.
• Travels to key producers/accounts and stays visible in the marketplace while monitoring trends.
