Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Intern to support civil engineering tasks for utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects.

You will assist with site layout, grading, drainage, and access road design, applying standards such as AASHTO and NRCS guidance. In this role you’ll work with Senior Engineers to prepare grading plans, drainage designs, erosion control plans, and construction documents, with opportunities to travel to project sites and interact with clients

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication with clients and team members.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and work outdoors when required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers to gain training in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other design software.
• Assist in grading, drainage, erosion, and access road plans for renewable sites.
• Support earthwork and stormwater calculations under guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Help prepare construction documents, plan/profile sheets, details, and quantity takeoffs.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to ensure progress.
• Travel to project sites to gather field data and interface with clients.
