Overview

The Renewable Energy Electrical Engineer is responsible for independently assessing building electrical systems while performing technical on-site surveys and in-office analysis on assigned projects. Analysis will include participation in technical studies, investigations, and development of energy-efficient scope on assigned projects.

Responsibilities

1. Assists in the production of projects that are on-time, within-budget, and meet the requirements of industry standards & codes and client specifications.
2. Leads, schedules, and conducts site surveys to determine existing facility conditions independently. Assists in identifying and preparing energy efficient scope.
3. Performs electrical system calculations including solar energy generation, battery sizing, generator power system sizing, etc.
4. Interacts in meetings with owners, clients, and/or architects as needed independently; prepares meeting notes.
5. Designs and prepares documentation for electrical systems for projects including solar arrays, battery energy storage systems, and demand response programs.
6. Assists Mechanical Survey Team with necessary electrical infrastructure designs to support proposed mechanical equipment changes/upgrades. Can include design work involving switchgears, switchboards, automatic transfer switches, transformers, metering, and generators.
7. Assists all Renewables Team members with questions concerning electrical engineering design, codes, and one line diagram creation.
8. Assists the development team in the coordination with other disciplines, including energy modeling, financial modeling, lighting, design, etc.
9. Assist the Renewables Team Director with Quality Control reviews of project work by other team members.
10. Attends and/or teaches in-house and external training sessions in necessary technical areas related to building systems.
11. Participates in industry organizations and attends events, meetings, and activities.
12. Upholds company owner advocacy philosophy and organizational core values.
13. Supervises less experienced engineers and/or technicians while managing specific projects.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year ABET accredited university.
2. Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
3. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and aptitude.
4. Required experience in Excel and Word.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with facility managers and engineers.
6. Ability to work independently to meet deadlines while on survey.
7. Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
8. Ability to use technology and apps for collecting data while on survey.
9. Passion for quality and client satisfaction.
10. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
11. Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
12. Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
13. Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

1. Prefer 5-10 years of energy-related client interface for an engineering design firm.
2. Preferred experience with building energy services in the health and higher-education fields.
3. Experience with mechanical and electrical design drawings.
4. Participation in industry organizations and attends events, meetings, and activities.

Travel Requirements

25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

1. Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
2. Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
3. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
