Job description

Electrical Engineer III

The Electrical Engineer III is responsible for designing and leading comprehensive electrical solutions for site-based conveyor systems used in distribution, fulfillment, and warehouse applications. The candidate will be part of the engineering team deploying complex material handling solutions for various clients. Success in this role requires leadership qualities and the ability to manage multiple integrated technologies effectively. The ideal candidate should work efficiently under the guidance of a project manager while leading their own team towards project completion, maintaining harmony with the overall project team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop overall system designs adhering to IEC/US standards, customer specifications, and KPI guidelines.
  2. Create detailed drawings for control panels, power distribution single lines, conveyor layouts, and other electrical components using Autodesk ACAD-E and KPI custom tools.
  3. Apply engineering principles to ensure scalable and robust solutions that meet project goals.
  4. Calculate power requirements and ratings for single line diagrams and control panels.
  5. Develop and release bills of materials for panels and field devices.
  6. Support remote teams by reviewing panel and layout drawings to facilitate manufacturing and installation.
  7. Troubleshoot electrical circuits, Ethernet networks, and basic PLC logic.
  8. Deploy and commission complex control solutions at customer sites.
  9. Work efficiently to meet deadlines within aggressive schedules.
  10. Establish and implement best practice standards for conveyor control systems, including flow control, gapping, and accumulation.
  11. Collaborate with other teams to identify common problems and develop solutions.
  12. Lead and develop an electrical engineering team to ensure consistent quality results.
Qualifications
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience; equivalent work experience considered without an engineering degree.
  • Technical knowledge to apply engineering principles effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues systematically.
  • Ability to compare and analyze multiple solutions critically.
  • Experience in project, service, and relationship management principles.
  • Effective communication skills to convey information clearly.
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate solutions and approaches.
  • Previous material handling experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley electrical products and hardware used in material handling systems.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD-Electrical (ACAD-E) for creating electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of industrial network protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, EtherCAT).
  • Familiarity with PLCs and VFD solutions; programming experience is a plus.
  • Ignition software familiarity is a plus.
