Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Billing Analyst to support, analyze, and report on renewable energy billing programs. The role blends accounting, analytics, and IT liaison duties to ensure accurate monthly cycles and timely payments.

The ideal candidate has strong Excel skills, familiarity with SQL, and a bachelor’s degree in business or finance. You will document processes, develop new program requirements, and drive continuous improvement across billing operations in a dynamic energy space.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, systems, or financial area or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with an account-based billing system, preferably utility billing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access) and SQL desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare process workflows for renewable energy accounts from initiation to closure.
• Document monthly billing cycle and interview users/IT to develop flows.
• Track billing, analyze and resolve unbilled accounts, escalate unresolved issues.
• Create reports on billing metrics and payments; monitor payments monthly.
• Serve as liaison between NG users, IT, and external customers; handle escalations.
• Draft business requirements to implement new solar programs into billing system.
• Develop test conditions, execute tests, and report metrics.
• Plan deployment of IT solutions to billing systems, including required training.
• Create database queries to satisfy business requests and identify accounts.
• Stay updated on market/regulatory developments affecting renewable energy billing.
• Challenge existing processes to improve efficiency.
