Job summary

WSB invites applications for the Renewable Community Planner Intern role in Minneapolis. You will support the Renewable Energy and Community Planning team on data-driven planning for energy projects.

Responsibilities include collecting land-use data, reviewing siting applications, and preparing staff reports and outreach materials. The internship targets students in urban planning with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a four-year program in urban planning, community planning, or a related field.
• Interest in renewable energy, land use planning, and sustainable community development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report preparation and presentations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to land use, renewable energy siting, and community impact.
• Assisting with the review of land use applications and permits for renewable energy projects.
• Supporting preparation of staff reports, plans, and ordinance documentation.
• Assisting with community engagement efforts, including meetings, presentations, and outreach materials.
• Supporting code/zoning research and compliance efforts related to renewable energy projects.
• Contributing to other planning and renewable energy project tasks as assigned.
