Job summary

Matter Labs is seeking a security-focused engineer to protect ZKsync's core—smart contracts, ZK circuits, and blockchain nodes. Your reviews, threat models, and incident work decide vulnerabilities—yours is a hands-on role for someone who wants to understand how things break and fix them ethically.

The role centers on threat modeling, architecture ownership, incident response, and proactive defense across distributed systems. Fully remote with occasional travel for events and team gatherings.

Qualifications

• Track record in security engineering or security research with demonstrable findings.
• Proficiency in strongly typed languages such as C++, Go, or Scala; Rust and Solidity are primary languages.
• Deep grounding in algorithms and data structures, with practice implementing them from scratch.
• Protocol-level debugging and root-cause analysis on distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of recent blockchain security incidents and prevention techniques.
• Clear written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Threat-model and review Solidity contracts, Rust state transitions, and other critical systems before attackers have a chance.
• Own protocol components from secure architecture design through production.
• Track the adversary by following hacks and exploits to drive concrete improvements.
• Scale security by embedding secure-design practice across development teams.
• Apply modern AI to scale security work, while accounting for attackers using the same tools.
• Join security investigations and incident response under time pressure with incomplete information.
