Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Vascular Surgery Coder for full-time remote work. You will apply ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding to trauma surgery cases, review documentation, and ensure compliance with AMA CPT rules and CMS guidelines. Independent work style and strong Excel/EMR skills are essential for accurate, timely coding.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of medical coding experience.
• 3+ years vascular surgery coding experience (IP and OP).
• CPC certification from AAPC required.
• EMR experience required.
• Credential maintenance required throughout employment.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong knowledge of Federal and State coding regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality surgical coding on General and Trauma surgery charts.
• Maintain knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and regulatory guidelines.
• Code services with accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes and resolve documentation gaps.
• Aim for 95% accuracy with high productivity in monthly reviews.
• Handle review queue daily and communicate corrections as needed.
• Process re-bills and notify facilities per policy.
• Report downtime to ensure turnaround times are met.
• Collaborate with IQC staff to ensure quality standards.
• Answer physicians/hospital questions within eight hours of request.
• Code/pending each chart within 24 hours; notify if unable to meet SLA.
• Monitor inbox every two hours during coding sessions.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant workstations and adhere to policy manuals.
• Work with team to maximize reimbursement for properly documented services.
• Escalate coding principal discrepancies to supervisor promptly.
