Job summary
National Mortgage Staffing is seeking an experienced Wholesale DE/VA Underwriter to join a fully remote team. The role emphasizes complex and manual VA underwriting, FHA/VA guidelines, and independent decisioning.
You will underwrite Wholesale/TPO FHA and VA loans, issue NOVs, review AUS findings, and manage an underwriting pipeline remotely while coordinating with operations and sales teams.
Qualifications
- Recent Wholesale/TPO underwriting experience.
- VA NOV issued within the past 11 months.
- Strong experience with manual VA underwriting.
- Experience underwriting difficult and complex VA loan scenarios.
- Solid knowledge of current FHA and VA underwriting guidelines.
- Ability to analyze complex credit, income, assets, collateral, and risk independently.
- Ability to manage an underwriting pipeline in a remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite Wholesale/TPO FHA and VA residential mortgage loans.
- Perform complex and manual VA underwrites.
- Analyze borrower credit, income, assets, liabilities, collateral, and loan risk.
- Review AUS findings and manually underwrite when required.
- Evaluate layered risk and compensating factors.
- Issue underwriting decisions and conditions per guidelines.
- Review conditions and supporting docs through final loan approval.
- Review VA appraisals and issue NOVs.
- Communicate underwriting decisions with Wholesale/TPO operations and sales teams.
