Job summary

AD Mortgage LLC is seeking an experienced VA Underwriter to join our underwriting team. You will review and underwrite VA mortgage loan files, ensuring compliance with VA guidelines, investor and company requirements, and accurate income/asset analysis.

You will evaluate appraisals, issue underwriting decisions with conditions, and maintain thorough LOS documentation while meeting productivity and quality standards in a remote-capable, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience with a focus on VA loans.
• SAR certification; DE certification is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of VA underwriting guidelines and agency requirements.
• Experience reviewing complex income scenarios including self-employed borrowers.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage a high volume pipeline in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Encompass or similar loan origination systems.

Responsibilities

• Review and underwrite VA mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with VA, investor, and company guidelines.
• Analyze borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral to determine loan eligibility.
• Calculate and validate income for self-employed and wage-earner borrowers.
• Evaluate appraisals and collateral documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Issue clear and concise underwriting decisions, including conditions and loan stipulations.
• Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and internal partners to resolve file conditions.
• Ensure all loans meet compliance, quality control, and regulatory requirements prior to approval.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting documentation within the LOS.
• Meet established productivity, quality, and turnaround time standards.
• Stay current on VA guideline updates and industry changes.
