Job summary

National Mortgage Staffing seeks an experienced DE/VA Underwriter with renovation experience to join a remote team serving clients nationwide. The role requires active VA LAPP/SAR and residency in Central/Mountain/Eastern Time Zones, with responsibilities spanning evaluation of mortgage applications, risk assessment, and cross-team collaboration to expedite closings.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of residential underwriting, deep knowledge of FHA/VA/conventional products, and

Qualifications

Active DE and VA underwriting certification required.
Must have used DE and VA designation within the last 11 months.
Minimum 5 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
Strong FHA, VA, Conventional, Non-QM, and Jumbo product knowledge.
Experience with Encompass strongly preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Evaluate mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
Analyze borrower financials, credit reports, and property appraisals to determine eligibility.
Assess risk and provide thorough loan decisions with explanations and conditions.
Collaborate with processors, loan officers, and stakeholders to resolve questions and expedite processes.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, guidelines, and best practices.
