Job summary

National Mortgage Staffing is seeking a Remote DE/VA Underwriter with renovation experience to join our client’s team. An active VA LAPP/SAR is required and candidates must be US-based. You will collaborate with the origination team to ensure accurate loan decisions.

Responsibilities include evaluating applications, analyzing borrower finances, risk assessment, and expediting processes with processors and loan officers. Strong FHA/VA knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Active DE underwriting certification required.
• DE/VA designation used within last 11 months.
• Minimum 5 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
• Proven longevity in prior roles (stable tenure).
• Strong understanding of FHA, VA, Conventional, Non-QM, Jumbo products.
• Encompass experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and team collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Analyze borrower financials, credit reports, and appraisals to determine eligibility.
• Assess risk and provide clear loan decisions with conditions.
• Collaborate with processors, loan officers, and stakeholders to resolve questions and expedite processes.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, guidelines, and best practices.
