Job summary

Jobot in the United States is seeking a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to help turn homeownership dreams into reality. You will underwrite Conventional, FHA, and VA loans and ensure adherence to investor guidelines, with a focus on speed and accuracy.

The role is primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings. You will collaborate with branches and loan partners, supporting complex scenarios while maintaining rigorous quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• Active FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA SAR/LAPP underwriting approval.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with mortgage and lending partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Conventional, FHA, and VA loans in accordance with investor and agency guidelines.
• Submit files through automated underwriting systems and evaluate results.
• Approve or pend loans and present qualifying files to loan committee.
• Serve as a trusted underwriting resource for branch partners, answering questions and advising on complex files.
• Maintain a 24-48 hour turnaround on new submissions and resubmissions.
• Ensure accurate loan documentation and proper file maintenance.
• Utilize office systems and tools to support underwriting operations.
